In your own words, explain why the President is using the media in this manner.

What do you think about the President's use of the media to further his healthcare plan?

21 comments:

  1. President Obama is using the media as a modern outlet into the televisions or computers of more and more people. Obama, like in the start of his campaign, is continuing to reach the adults and still keeping current events such as the health care reform fresh in young minds.

President Obama's use of the media is a great way to instill his healthcare plan. For example: Sunday's 5 interviews on different networks, all had the same topic and there were no changes in his plans.

  2. 1. President Obama is using the media to reach out to people and show that he really wants to make a difference. Obama wants to show that he truley cares about health insurance and is a man of his word.
    2. I think Obama's use of media is great beacuse it would be broadcasting in differnet types of news channel which would make people notice his change for health care even more. This is also great beacuse not only would it inform people who speak english but the spanish culutre also. It shows his care for the American people.

  4. 1. Just like every companies we see on television and the internet commercials; they like to inform, advertise, and persuade people to their products, or this this and this. The president is the same exact thing. Just like the health care plan for example. When he broadcasts it on television, they expect us to hear what he has to say, what is he offering, and why is he doing it. And to him, the media should be very important to him because its a way to connect with the citizens.

    2. The president's use of the media to further his health care plan is really good, because how else would the president inform the whole ENTIRE nation that he has a health care plan for us to begin with?

  5. 1.President Obama is using the media in this manner to get his ideas and goals out to the people. Seeing as how over the years society is using technology more and more, media is just another outlet for Obama for people to see the differences and changes hes trying to make.

    2. Although i dont agree with the plan itself, the thought of using the media to further his healthcare plan is well thought out. He clearly knows how to reach out to the people in the best way possible, and is showing his efforts to persuade and inform people on his goals.

  6. President Obama is using the media because everyone is interested in electronics now a days. So what better way can he put his point across.? He must really be serious about this healthcare plan because he is going the extra mile.

  7. President Obama is using the media in this manner because of the role media plays in our everyday lives. He is trying to get his ideas and his goals out to the people, and seeing how technology and media are such major influences on out lives, it would be one way for many people to realize his ideas.

I think that this is going to help more people understand what he is trying to do with the new health care plan. It will be broadcasted on several different channels and many people will watch it.

  8. 1 Because besides the Internet, the Tv-media- is the best way to reach your intended audience. The amount of people that watch tv every day is staggering, and by him doing different interviews on different channels that means more people will be paying attention to what he's saying.

    2. The manner in which he did it, having all the interviews be almost the exact same is extremely political and in my opinion Propaganda because they were used as a way to influence more support for the bill without telling the whole story.

  9. 1. President Obama is using the media to connect to as many audiences he can. He figuers, and rightly so, that somebody is watching at least one of those 5 stations to get their news, so he is trying to get to everybody.

    2. I think he used the media so brilliantly to push his agenda further. It really shows you how dedicated, and persistent he is in getting this bill across.

  10. 1. Obama is using the media not just to reach out to skeptics of his plan, but to settle certain media hype that has been circling the White House lately. His almost celebrity Sunday appearance gives the country a more direct look on Obama's thoughts, feelings and dedication.

    2. Obamas use of media blatantly shows dedication to this plan. It proves that he'll go as far as possible to go through with a plan he thinks is right for the country.

  11. 1) President Obama is using the media to help the economy by letting the people know and understand exactly what he's trying to say. If he continues doing interviews, or continues to tell people whats going on from Live television, people would pay more attention - watching and listening. Theres millions of people watching him on television right now, which is a huge help if he continues to tell people whats going on.

2)I think its great how the President uses the media to help set out his goals because many people will be watching and it really reaches out to people.

  13. - President Obama is using the media in this manner because he is trying to show us americans how much he really cares about this topic. By doing five back to back interviews in one day he showed viewers that he is serious. No president has done that many in one shot and president Obama is willing to do anything to improve our health care system.
    - He is still going to talk about this issue in future interviews. The media is getting in the way of Obamas plan by focusing on racism. Even the president himself said its a topic which is like catnip for the media.

  16. 1. President Obama is using the media to reach out to people because it get the message across far and wide, by doing so he shows, that he is serious about the issue.

    2. I think that the President's use of the media is a good way to get the point across and also with all the various forms of media today, most people will come into contact with the issue one way or another.

  17. President Obama is reaching out to people in different areas because people are so interested in electronics maybe its just another way to connect to different people who might not find what he is disscussing seriously. So he's going out his way to prove his point about the Health-Care plan. I, personally, agree with his technique.

  18. 1. The president is using the media in this manner to advertise his plan, and to favor which types of media he prefers. He went on so many interviews, probably to clarify his main points and to fight back to those who believe the plan isnt as well rounded as it should be. He probably used the kind of media he did to favor some more than others. The big example would be his some-what biased opinion over Fox news. He might have denied an interview from them as a form of revenge, which could be understood as a way Obama "used the media"
    2. It was a good idea the way Obama took advantage of what he had. Any regular human would, if they wanted to prove their point. Whether or not I completely agree with Obama's health care plan, I thought it was very respectable that he made so many interviews and was not afraid to confront those with opposing ideologies. He may have slumbered and repeated the same things, he is only a human. For any person to do so many interviews about the same one topic for the whole entire day just goes to show how much Obama really believes in his plan. The question is, will he be able to convince his opponents of the same thing

Even though the health care itself seems perfect, many people doubt that the plan can be enacted because there aren't enough money to even start the plan.
President Obama tries to explain all the doubts and satisfy every TV broadcastings, but the actuality and the reality of the enaction of the plan remains unclear

  20. 1. President Obama is using the media in this manner to present his plans/ideas stronly to US citizens. He is using it to enforce his statements and to show that he is serious.

    2. I feel that Obamas usage of the media to furthur his word of his healthcare plan was a great idea. By doing five different interviews in one day shows his dedication and meaning to his plan and the people of this country.

    1. Because of the recent opposition that President Obama faced on the issue of health care system, he is using the American media in two various ways to get his voice across to the American people. For one, he is expressing his values and his thoughts to the people without any debate from the opponents of his system. Unlike in a debate where the opponent shows his values, President Obama can make his voice heard without interruption or objection. The second way that he is using the media is showing how determined he is for his system to be utilized. In the article, it states "No other president has been a guest on so many Sunday talk shows at once" this shows that he want the people to see how determined he is and how passionate he feels about this issue. Because he is willing to sit through many interviews, President Obama is showing how determined he is for his health care system to be approved.

    2. I feel that President Obama's use of the media was a smart move on his part because it was a great chance for him to get his message across. Without opposition or critics, he can easily show the American public his opinions and views.
