http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/08/05/politics/main5215880.shtml?tag=featuredPostArea

Due Monday!

What are some of the objections raised to the Obama Health Care Plan?
Should the Government even be involved with health care?
Is the Health Care system, as proposed by President Obama, even constitutional?

16 comments:

  1. 1. President Obama listened to the strong objections raised by verterns who think that the healthcare plan is unfair. They feel like it is not showing socialism. It may affect veterans and their families ability to access health care.

    2. Yes, because Free medical services would encourage patients to inquire about problems early when treatment will be light. They won't wait until their condition gets worse.

    3. Yes, in the constitution (amendentment 14) it says that citizens of the US are granted life, liberty, or property. Healthcare is part of life.

  2. President Obmas plan to healthcare does bring a few objectives to the people, such as taxes will be raised, it;s not showing socialism to the people, and the majority of the the citizens feel that the immigrants in our countrey should have the same facilities we have with this new plan .

Of course for the simple fact that in the beginning of our government. They clearly stated that the people are the government, and health care is obviously a major part of the US citizens. And honestly there's no way of taking the govt out of that issue because depending on what action is taken taxes will be raised, lowered, erased or etc.

Obama's health care plan is constituional, its sole purpose is to make health care available to every single person. In some countries in Europe taxes are higher because health care is available to every single person. I rather pay higher taxes then pay 300,000 for the unwanted removal of some type of cancer.

  3. 1.Some of the objections of President Obama's Health Care plan is of not considering immigration in this plan and of people not having the right of socialism.
2.The government should be involved with health care because its their responsibility to look out for the Americans. Its their duty to provide
American needs. They are the leaders of this country.
3.President Obama's Health Care plan is constitutional beacuse its part of american needs in order to live in the USA.

  4. 1. Because it does not consider immigrants and their rights. And taxes will most likely be raised because of it.

    2. Yeah, and it is with medicaid because it is helping those who cannot afford insurance.

    3. It's not unconstitutional because it isn't breaking a constitutional law, but at the same time it isn't in the constitution so its not constitutional.

  5. there definetly will be some objections to Obama's health care plan because of course, everything in this world is not perfect. it's bound to have some flaws. but in this case, i think Obama didn't put socialism in this consideration, which would anger the immigrants and veterans who wouldn't be able to get access as easily as other people.

Yes, because every health insurance is bsing(bulls***) and the people who need health insurance and from those who can access it, they need coverage.

Yes, because as we read in class, amendment 14 says no state should discourage the right of people, in life, liberty, or property. Obama's health care plan gurantees all three.

  6. There are various objections with the Obama health care plan. His ludicrous assumption that he will not add a penny to the defecit is ridicilous. There has also been controversy over procedures such as abortion.

The government should be involved with healthcare to an extent. A public option or government option is unacceptable. The government should try to improve the system as much as they can without infringing on peoples' natural rights and without causing detriment to the system.

There is a grey area when it comes to the constitutional rights of the government. I believe if the bill came to pass the supreme court wouldn't find an issue with it being constitutional. The consitution is a living document and its interpetation is determined by the mindframe of the period

  7. - People are afraid of taxes being raised. Also, some people view it as unfair and its not representing socialism.
    - The government should be involved in health care because it benefits the people. They should be trying to help the ones in desperate need because they can't afford it at all.
    - Yes, it is constitutional because it violates the 14th amendment. It favors one group of people instead of both. The 14th amendment protects our natural rights and life is being violated by not giving uninsured citizens the care they need.

  8. ~What are some of the objections raised to the Obama Health Care Plan? One it's his Assumption that this health plan wont add money to the national debt, Second it's the fact he is not considering the immigrants and him talking about a global health plan when he is not willing to include immigrants

Should the Government even be involved with health care?up to a certain point, because i believe it's the people's responsibility to care about their health but for those who have no way of paying for such treatments i believe that it is fair for the government to give them a choice.

~Is the Health Care system, as proposed by President Obama, even constitutional? It is constitutional because it gives people the right of granted life by health care.

  9. 1. Some objections to President Obama's Health Care plan are that it most probably cause an increase in taxes and it doesn't take immagrants into consideration.

    2. Yes, because this makes healt care possiable for those who cannot afford it, and improves it for those who can.

    3. Yes, because the 14th Amendment guarantees everyone life, liberty and property. And I feel that health care falls under the life part of the amendment.

  10. -Most people feel that Obamas Health Care plan will eventually increase taxes and some people even feel that it's not fair.
-Yes the government should be involved because it's their job to look out for the people of America, and i don't think most Americans would be able to do this on their own.
-In a way it is constitutional because as said in the 9th amendment, rights are not restricted just because they're not specifically mentioned in the constitution.

  11. The most obvious objection raised about the health care bill is the taxes issue. Should we be having to pay more for taxes, for a health care benefit? This is unreasonable because the only reason we are given this bill is so we wont have to pay so much for health insurance. But if we're paying more in taxes, then what's the difference? It balances itself out; the money that doesnt go to paying for healthcare (or not paying for it) is going to taxes. Where's the change in that?
The government should play some sort of role in its people's health care because it cant govern a group of sick people. Of course the government shouldnt be going to such drastic measures, but it should have something availible to its citizens.
I am right in the middle, when it comes to my opinion on whether or not the Bill is constitutional. The government isnt really mandated to make sure we're all healthy. It's mandated to make sure we're not all dieing of disease. Of course the logical thing would be to prevent the disease from occuring, which this plan will hopefully solve. But this plan isnt completely necessary under the Constitution

  12. A big issue in his health care plan, is whether people will all go to the public option, or will they really choose to keep their plan.

When companies don't treat their citizens fairly the government should reform those companies, to take care of their people. You can just let these companies run wild, and drive up the cost of a life. It's simply unfair, and unjust to put a price on somebodys life, and thats what the government id trying to prevent.

yes, just like public education, and all other public options it is very legal.

  13. Of course there will be objections to Obamas health care plan. it is impossible to make everyone happy, and everyone is looking for something different. some of the objections people are having to the plan are that the taxes may be raised to help pay for it, it also goes against socialism, and not giving immigrants all their rights.

Yes, the government should be involved in our health care but they should not be in complete control. they should help people who really need to be covered but for some "real" reason they are unable to cover themselves.

Yes the health care plan is constitutional, because it is helping people survive, and it could help save lives.

    1. obamas goanna raise taxes and not include imagrants in it to idk how thats goanna go but he is all talk bout global healthcare when most of those people come here to america.
    2. we are basically bringing ourselves down i feel like we dont know what the hell we are doing. its like what is the gov't doing they need to support us and go after the people that need it 1st
    3. yes deffently is it should be helping people in need and if it doesnt then screw it.

  15. Their are many objections that arise around Obama's actions and his Health Care reform. One being the stirking resembelence they have to Socialism. The equality of health care service provided regardless of wealth, the even distribution of medical needs to everyone who needs it. Though it seems American at heart, it contradicts the Capitalist socitey that has given the US so much money and power. Second of all, the vauge and predicted savings that Obama had Harvard professors calculate. This can only serve as political propaganda, not true facts that are needed to persuade congress and the people of the U.S.

    2. The government should be involved with Health Care. If they were not, all private companies would look for is the cheapest, most profitable way to give health insurance, medicine, operations, etc. Greed is alive in this country, and the only people who can control it is the government.

    3. With what we did in class, breaking down the 14th Amendment, it is constitutional. Though our interpretation of the amendments might not be as qualified as the Supreme Courts justices themselves, our basic understanding of what has founded the U.S. and it's foundation for creating an equal, peaceful society is coherent. Equality is needed in this country, but to go as far as Obama wants to go seems to make the entire country into skeptics.

  16. The big issue is if everybody goes along with this plan. Not many people think like others so many people in this economy will walk different directions, different paths, and not really understand the plan Obama is trying to do.

The Government should be involved with health care to help but not to take control. I mean, without the Government, who would we have to help ourselves with this hugeee economy change?

Yes because the 14th Amendments tells us that they grant liberty, everyone's life, and property. Health care is all about liberty, everyones' life, and property.
